Katia Sher

When Tom Edwards passed on the DSLR torch to Katia she was both delighted and eager. The prospect of managing the Review also seemed like an immense and daunting project, because her experience as a copyeditor exposed her to the work involved in producing a polished product. As noted by her shortly after stepping into Tom’s shoes, she was put at ease by the team dynamic and sense of community that Dundee University students had to offer. For Katia, the best part about collaborating on a project like this is working with talented and dedicated copyeditors, designers, and other members of the community who work behind the scenes to make the publication of these volumes possible. Katia is now entering her final year as a dual-qualifying student at the University of Dundee. Her intentions with the DSLR are to expand and deepen its roots by reaching a wider audience. She is immensely grateful for all the work Kirsty Knowles has done with aiding her in this endeavour. Editorial Team

Haroon Anwar

Haroon Anwar is a second-year law student at the Dundee University. He became a copyeditor in 2026 because he has always enjoyed the ‘behind-the-scenes’ side of writing, the process of getting the formatting right and ensuring consistent footnotes. Having worked on the latest issue, Volume 12, his main focus was centred on the OSCOLA referencing and general flow of the articles. He full-heartedly supported the climate change and energy theme for the latest issue and always looks forward to getting stuck into the submissions. Helping the team put together a professional volume has always been rewarding from him!

 

Nirmi Parekh 

Nirmi Parekh is a third-year law student at the University of Dundee. She was thrilled to be involved in the publication of Volume 12 as a copyeditor (which focused on climate change and energy solutions), because the theme is very close to her heart. She also feels that such topics are essential for the world we live in today. Nirmi has said that the DSLR opens a new environment for her, one that is hidden away from regular academic learning. It gives her a platform to use skills for the benefit of legal advancement. She always looks forward to working alongside the editorial team and strives to put out a publication of the highest standard.

 

Aminah Ali 

As a third-year law student at Dundee University, Aminah is always keen to get involved in opportunities that challenge her outside the usual lectures and coursework. Joining the DSLR as a copyeditor in 2026 has given her insight into the lengthy process of academic writing and the level of precision that strong legal work requires. She was especially looking forward to contributing to Volume 12. For Aminah, the focus on climate change is an issue she believes affects us all and is especially relevant in today’s world.

 

Peter Fairhurst

Peter Fairhurst joined as a copy editor for Volume 12.  Peter is currently in his third year at the University of Dundee, reading Scots law with a particular passion for criminal law as he aims to qualify into the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. As a student member of the Society to His Majesty’s Signet, Peter can often be found in the Signet Library in his home city of Edinburgh otherwise he’ll be in the snooker club (which is not quite as refined). Peter has a genuine interest in law, particularly in areas that are seldom discussed.  For this reason, he is thoroughly looking forward engaging with environmental law for Volume 12 of this prestigious publication. 

 

Emma Kolbuc

Emma joined the DSLR as a copyeditor in 2026 because she enjoys creative writing, but her favourite part of writing is the editing process. This is because the paper is in its final form and Emma is a fanatic for footnotes and referencing! Her attention to detail is unmatched and she always ensures that no stone is left unturned. Emma’s presence will be sorely missed and everyone at the DSLR wishes her the best in her future endeavours as she starts her 2028 training contract with HFW in London.
